Collaborators & Archives

Guardians of photographic memory

Oldpik is a cultural and collaborative project dedicated to preserving, contextualizing, and sharing historical photography as an essential part of our collective memory.

None of this would be possible without the often silent work of collectors, archives, institutions, and individuals who preserve old photographs on paper, glass plates, or digitized collections, allowing these images to remain alive and accessible for future generations.

Who are our collaborators?

Private collectors

Custodians of historical photographic collections of priceless value.

Family archives

Passed down through generations as treasures of memory.

Cultural institutions

Cultural and educational entities committed to preservation.

Photo libraries & archives

Local archives that safeguard the visual memory of their communities.

Individual users

Who share old images with historical or documentary value.

Each collaborator retains full rights over their images, authorship, and terms of use they deem appropriate.

The value of context

Unlike other repositories, Oldpik doesn't display photographs in isolation.

Contextual exploration

Explore photographs by place, date, or theme in an integrated way.

Visual connections

Connect images from different authors about the same place or era.

Visual microhistory

Build a visual microhistory of towns, cities, and territories.

Educational use

Facilitate educational, cultural, and informative use of historical photography.

This approach doesn't replace original archives: it complements and enhances them.

Attribution and link to original source

Express reference to the author or source archive (when known).

Visible link to the original source (website, archive, or repository).

Strict respect for license conditions indicated by the rights holder.

Oldpik currently does not include advertising or commercial exploitation models.

Cultural purpose: Its purpose is primarily cultural, educational, and pedagogical, focused on the preservation and dissemination of historical photography.

Should the project's growth require it, Oldpik may incorporate limited sustainability measures in the future—such as donations, cultural sponsorships, or discreet advertising—exclusively for technical maintenance, development, and platform continuity, without affecting authorship or image rights.

Want to collaborate with Oldpik?

If you're the custodian of a photographic archive—public or private—and you'd like your images to gain visibility, be shown in historical context, and contribute to preserving collective memory.

We'd be happy to explore a collaboration, always under the conditions you determine.

Commitment to rights and memory

Oldpik acts with utmost diligence regarding any communication related to copyright or attribution, and maintains a firm commitment to respecting original collections and those who preserve them.

"We believe that preserving means sharing with respect.
And that history, when shown in context, gains meaning."
