1903

Carl Anton Bjerknes (1825–1903) was a Norwegian mathematician and physicist known for his work in hydrodynamics and his contributions to the study of fluid mechanics. His research focused on mathematical models that described the motion of fluids, and he developed theories that drew analogies between fluid dynamics and electromagnetism.

Bjerknes’ most notable work involved demonstrating how forces in fluids could produce effects similar to those seen in electromagnetism, influencing later studies in theoretical physics. His ideas were further developed and popularized by his son, Vilhelm Bjerknes, who became a pioneering figure in meteorology and geophysics.

Although his work was not widely recognized during his lifetime, Carl Anton Bjerknes' contributions laid the groundwork for important advancements in fluid dynamics and atmospheric sciences.
