Train Crash at Montparnasse Station
On Tuesday, October 22, 1895, a passenger train from Granville to Paris crashed at Montparnasse station in Paris. To arrive on time, the engineer Guillaume-Marie Pelerin, who has been working for 19 years, and fireman Victor Garnier increased the speed of the locomotive, which was carrying 131 passengers, to 60 km/h!
