“Dont open the door until the engine is switched off.”
This fascinating vintage aviation photograph from 1926 shows a steward assisting a lady passenger aboard a Fokker-Grulich F.II, one of the early airliners operated by Lufthansa in Germany. The aircraft was a modernized version of the original Fokker design, offering increased passenger capacity and greater comfort — a glimpse of what could be called “Business Class, 1926.”

Inside the cabin, a small sign reminds travelers of the era’s simplicity and caution: “Don’t open the door until the engine is switched off.” The image perfectly captures the dawn of civil aviation in Europe, when air travel was still a luxurious and daring adventure.
