Photograph caption dated August 21, 1954 reads, "Sunday drag races at Pomona, held for Los Angeles hot rod and motorcycle enthusiasts, are under supervision of community, allow drivers to see how hot cars are under conditions safer than those in effect for majority of drivers on public streets.
