Members of Tono's first coal mine rescue team

1915

This photo shows members of Tono's first coal mine rescue team. In case of a fire, these men would be the first ones into the mine to rescue any miners trapped there. Third from left is Robert Wigley in this 1915 photo showing the men in front of the mineshaft after a fire had threatened 32 men. All 32 were saved.
