Construction of the Gorky Park of Culture metro station lobby

1930

Construction of the ground lobby of the Krymskaya Ploshchad metro station. Early 1930s.

According to the project, the station was to be called Krymskaya Square or simply Krymskaya, but was renamed the Gorky Park of Culture, despite the fact that the park itself is located quite far away, on the opposite bank of the Moscow River.
The first stage of the Moscow Metro ran from Sokolniki station to Park Kultury station.
