The First Time Harold Heard

1962

The photo shows a born deaf boy named Harold Whittleese. Until the age of five, he did not know what sounds were because of a congenital illness. In 1962, a hearing aid was inserted into Harolds ear. The first impression I heard was unforgettable. The photo shows exactly the moment when the boy discovered a new sense - hearing. Look at these emotions! The photo was taken by American photographer Jack Bradley, who immediately became famous for this particular shot.
