Located in the elegant seaside town of Southport, Merseyside, the Opera House stood as a cultural beacon of Edwardian and post-Edwardian entertainment, hosting a range of operas, theatrical performances, and musical acts.

Historical context:
Originally opened in 1891, the Opera House was designed by renowned architect Frank Matcham. Sadly, the building was destroyed by fire in 1929, just a few years after this photograph was taken. It was later replaced by the Garrick Theatre, a landmark in its own right, continuing the town’s theatrical tradition.
