Lewis Carroll was the pen name of Charles Lutwidge Dodgson, an English author, poet, mathematician and photographer. He is best known for his children’s books Alice’s Adventures in Wonderland and Through the Looking-Glass, which are full of word play, logic, and fantasy. He also wrote poems such as Jabberwocky and The Hunting of the Snark, which belong to the genre of literary nonsense. He was a scholar and teacher at Christ Church, Oxford, and a pioneer of photography. He died in 1898 at the age of 65.
