The Rostokin aqueduct across the Yauza River

1910

The Rostokin aqueduct across the Yauza River near the village of Rostokino. 1910s

Most of the Mytishchi water supply system ran underground. The water flowed through a brick pipe that was supported by wooden beds. Since the plan did not provide for pressure structures, aqueducts were built to lay a water supply system through valleys and ravines.

The Rostokin aqueduct was named after the village of the same name at the confluence of the Yauza and Goryanka rivers.
