Rufus Ingalls (1818–1893) was a United States Army officer and a key quartermaster for the Union Army during the American Civil War. Born in Maine, he graduated from West Point in 1843 and served in the Mexican-American War before taking on logistical roles in the military.

During the Civil War, Ingalls became the chief quartermaster of the Army of the Potomac, ensuring the efficient supply of food, clothing, weapons, and transportation for Union forces. His expertise in military logistics played a crucial role in sustaining the army during major campaigns, including the Siege of Petersburg.

After the war, he continued his service in the Quartermaster Corps before retiring as a brigadier general. He was widely respected for his organizational skills and contributions to military logistics. Ingalls passed away in 1893.
