Titanic and Olympic

1912

A stunning and rare photograph of the RMS Titanic (right) and her nearly identical sister ship, the RMS Olympic (left), docked side by side in Southampton. This image was captured shortly before the Titanic embarked on her ill-fated maiden voyage in April 1912. The sheer scale and symmetry of these ocean giants reflect the pride and ambition of early 20th-century British shipbuilding.

⚓ Historical Note
Both vessels were part of the White Star Line's Olympic class. While Titanic is remembered for her tragic end, the Olympic had a long and eventful career, including service as a troopship during WWI. Southampton served as Titanic’s port of departure and was home to hundreds of her crew.
