First Centralia General Hospital

1905

The first Centralia General Hospital was a three-story wood frame building built in 1889 on a hill east of Centralia. The building was originally the site of the Grace Baptist Seminary, and it also served as a prep school. When the school was closed due to a lack of students, the building was used as a home until it was sold to Dr. J.H. Dumon and turned into a hospital. The hospital was later sold to Dr. Lee Scace, who operated it until he built a new brick hospital on the corner of First Street and H Street. This photograph was taken in 1905.
