Milunka Savich-Gligorevich

Milunka Savich-Gligorevich (Serb. Milunka Savić — Gligorevic (June 24, 1890, Koprivnica — October 5, 1973, Belgrade) was a Serbian serviceman, World War I veteran, officer (sergeant) of the 2nd Iron Infantry Regiment named after Prince Mikhailo of the Army of the Kingdom of Serbia, holder of five orders (Serbia, France, England, Russia). She is the recipient of the most decorated female military personnel in Serbia; one of the most famous women who fought on the fronts of World War I. She was wounded at least nine times in combat and was nicknamed Joan of Arc by the French the Serbian for her outstanding bravery.
