Tumanyan says: “I have four sons, four of you are a soldier, I have four daughters, and four of them will train you in the army.” Tumanyans letter to Andranik reads.

“Dear Andranik, in the face of a terrible moment, every man must bring to the table what he has and can, both to prevent the impending danger and to achieve the desired peace. I have four boys, all four are at the disposal of the National Council of the Government of the Earth and you, and my four daughters. are willing to go to the rear, whatever they will be capable of.

I too certainly have nothing precious of these, therefore I will spare nothing, only to be able, together with all noble peoples and freedom-loving souls, to repel the impending danger and defend the sacred rights and freedoms of all of us.” I kiss the heroic forehead, always Yours, Hovhannes Tumanyan, 1918
