Colored World War I

Colored World War I

Of the 19 official German photographers who documented World War I, only one, Hans Hildenbrand, did not take black and white photographs, but color photographs using the Lumiere Brothers autochrome. Hildenbrand filmed the daily lives of German soldiers in Alsace and Champagne in 1915 and 1916.

We previously published an article on the Christmas Truce of 1914.
