Lower ranks of the Life Guards Regiment of Her Majesty Empress Maria Fedorovna Cuirassier

The lower ranks of the Life Guards Regiment of Her Majesty Empress Maria Fedorovna Cuirassier. On the left is senior non-commissioned officer Mikhail Illarionovich Rudnev. April 2, 1917. Photo from a private collection. Her Majesty Empress Maria Fedorovnas Life Guards Cuirassier Regiment in 1917 did not side with the Bolsheviks, but fought with them to the last. From St. Petersburg, the regiment moved to Kiev, then to Novorossiysk, then to Crimea, and then evacuated to Europe in 1920. Ordinary soldiers mostly scattered home, senior officers moved to Europe, and lower officers scattered wherever they went.
