The first Olympic 'village'
The first Olympic “village”
At the Paris Olympics in 1924, athletes were able to live together for the first time. For this purpose, a number of small wooden chalets were built near the Olympic Stadium, after which they received the established name “Olympic Village”. The “village” also housed a post office, a newsstand, a currency exchange, a hairdresser and a restaurant.
