Royal Encounter at Itoro, Ijebu Ode (1956)
This historic image captures a moment during the 1956 royal visit of Elizabeth II to colonial Nigeria. In the photograph, she is seen with Daniel Robertson Adesanya, the 54th Awujale of Ijebuland, at Itoro in Ijebu Ode. Also present during the visit was her consort, Prince Philip.
