On this day in 1897, on April 2, in Bagarich (Yerzanka province, Western Armenia), a figure of the Armenian national-liberation movement, an Armenian avenger, a member of the ARF, a survivor of the Armenian Genocide was born. He shot the young Turkish Interior Minister and the main organizer of the Armenian Genocide, Taleat Pasha.
1921 Tehliryan participated in the Nemesis operation of the Alliance, receiving the task of assassinating the main organizer of Genocide, Thaleat Pasha. On March 15 of the same year, on Hardenberg Street in the Charlottenburg district of Berlin, he shot Taleat and was arrested.
However, on June 2, 1921, a German court declared him unworthy.
Justified Tehliryan lived for many years in the house No. 78 Dalmatinska Street in the capital of Yugoslavia. After 1945, he settled first in Casablanca (Morocco) and then in San Francisco, USA, where he died on May 23, 1960. He was buried in the Armenian cemetery “Ararat” in Fresno. In memory of Tehliryan, a monument was erected in his tomb in Fresno, in Mastara village of Tallinn region and in Yerevan.
2019 Tehliryans son, Zaven, donated to the Mother See a number of exceptional documents from his fathers archive.
