Leonid Ilyich Brezhnev, Moscow, 1963. By Yusuf Karsh. Leonid Ilyich was born on December 19, 1906. My grandfather knew him and fought together. And Brezhnev kissed his grandmothers hand at a reception, which seems to be dedicated to the 30th anniversary of the Victory. She came home and said, “Im not going to wash my hand for a year now!” And because I was five years old, I took everything seriously. I thought everyone hadnt washed themselves for a year after kissing Brezhnev.
