View of Moscow from the Author's Perspective

1922

In 1922, Mikhail Bulgakov wrote in his diary:

“For me, heaven will come the moment the seeds disappear in Moscow. It is very possible that I am a geek who does not understand the great importance of this purely national product, as common to us as tobacco gum is to glorious American heroes of stunning films, but it is very possible that seeds are simply an abomination that threatens to drown us in their drooling husks.”
