Two Maltese women chatting
Two Maltese women chatting, Malta, 1950s. They wear the ghonnella (or faldetta), a traditional hooded cloak unique to Malta and Gozo. Designed for both modesty and comfort, its broad bonnet caught cooling breezes in summer and could be drawn close for warmth in winter.
