Palmerston Hospital

1883

Palmerston Hospital on the cliff in the background in 1883. In the foreground, Ah Cheong brothers extensive market gardens. Between the two, shown as a line of trees is Doctor's Gully - where Dr. Peel had constructed a small dam and well. This was Palmerstons only water supply in 1883, and presumedly the Chinese brothers carried water up to the gardens by hand.
