On June 27, 1954, the world’s first nuclear power plant to supply electricity to a power grid began commercial operation. Located in Obninsk, Kaluga Region, this pioneering facility marked a historic milestone as the first nuclear power plant connected to the Soviet Union’s common electric grid.
