The Brantley family

1903

The Brantley family grist mill on the Noah Fork, photographed in 1903. Three women and two men stand in front of the mill, with the creek visible nearby. The original corn mill on this site was built by the Webster family between 1830 and 1840. After the second mill was washed away, Samuel Brantley rebuilt the grist mill farther from the creek using the original working parts from the Webster mill. Coffee County, Tennessee, 1903.
