Models from Wolff and Marx

1961

Models from Wolff and Marx department store in front of the Alamo, 1961. The story of Wolff and Marx is interesting.

Started in 1877 by Albert Wolff and Daniel Marx in a small adobe house on West Commerce Street, Wolff and Marx became known as the city's skyscraper department store. In 1913 the store moved into a new eight-story structure at 210 W. Houston. The store dwarfed its neighbors. Eight stories in 1913 was quite a big deal.
