Leather workers
We have discussed in the past how smelly this work was. Leather workers in Bermondsey 1862.
Work was hard. Most of the leather that was made was tough, used for shoes, boots & harnesses.
The odour from decomposing organic materials was so strong it made the men vomit while working, also the risk of infection was very high.
