Atomic Bombing of Hiroshima
This is a day in history. The atomic bombing of Hiroshima. On August 6, 1945, at 8.15 am, the American B-29 “Enola Gay” bomber, named after the mother of crew commander Colonel Paul Tibbets, dropped the “Baby” atomic bomb on the Japanese city of Hiroshima. This was the first time in human history that nuclear weapons were used outside test sites. About 75,000 people died in the explosion, and more than 200,000 more were exposed to radiation. This picture shows Hiroshima before and after the bombing.
