At the beginning of the 20th century, 320 Armenians lived in Tavshanli.
Their ancestors came from Agulis in Nakhichevan.
Almost all of them did not understand the Armenian they spoke.
In Tavshanli there was the Church of St. Stephen, which was built in the 15th century, rebuilt twice: in 1806 and 1841. At the beginning of the 20th century, the village school had about 40 pupils.
