This photograph shows a traditional water delivery cart in the Hungarian city of Kecskemét around the 1950s–1960s. Before modern water networks reached every household, drinking water was often distributed door to door using large wooden barrels transported on horse-drawn carts.

In the image, a man adjusts the cart while a large barrel filled with potable water is mounted on a wagon partially adapted with a truck axle and wheel, reflecting the improvisation common in post-war Europe. The horse waits patiently while the delivery is prepared.

Scenes like this were once common in many European towns, where water carriers supplied homes that lacked direct access to piped drinking water. The photograph captures a transitional moment between traditional horse-drawn services and modern urban infrastructure.

A képen egy házhoz szállított ivóvizet szállító kocsi látható Kecskeméten az 1950–60-as évek körül. A vezetékes vízhálózat kiépítése előtt sok háztartás ivóvíz-ellátását hordókban, lovas kocsival szállított vízzel oldották meg.

A felvételen egy férfi a kocsit igazítja, miközben a nagy fahordó a szekérre van erősítve. A szekér részben egy teherautó tengelyével és kerekével lett átalakítva, ami jól mutatja a korszak találékonyságát.

Az ilyen vízszállító kocsik sok európai város mindennapjaihoz tartoztak addig, amíg a modern vízellátó rendszerek minden otthonba el nem jutottak.
