View of New York City from the Empire State Building observation deck on the skyscrapers opening day on May 1, 1931. In the early 1930s, the United States was in the middle of the Great Depression, and not all rooms were leased out. At that time, many people called the “Empty State Building”. It took ten years until all the premises were finally completed.
