Homemade wooden bicycle

circa 1925

A kid on a homemade wooden bicycle in Baltimore, Maryland, 1920s. Pieced together from rough planks and fitted with solid wooden wheels, the contraption looks heavy, rattling, and hard to steer. Yet the boy’s steady grip and determined posture suggest the pride of riding something so unusual through his neighborhood.
